Cloud computing – Sometimes Yes, and Sometimes No

Cloud-Computing

All studies and key informant interviews with countless suppliers and others demonstrated the phenomenon of cloud computing, which is just out of the starting blocks, so sometimes hesitant, sometimes bewildering, but everyone agrees that it will profoundly change the way we use IT.

Ask ten people for a definition of cloud computing and you will get ten different answers. Cloud computing is becoming a phenomenon in that many have not even passed the trend. In a recent European study, it appeared that nearly 75% of companies are still not convinced of the usefulness of the cloud, while 17% see it as a technology trend destined for a short life. A mere 11% believe it has an evolution in hosting that is durable.

However, the attitude towards cloud computing has changed rapidly in recent years. The gap between companies with no cloud and those that want to start orare already using is visibly reduced. The result of the study highlights that less than 5% user have migrated from their existing solution to the cloud.

The cloud is still in its infancy

The users of the cloud are obviously in confusion, but it is a surprising thing that they always set the bar higher when they use cloud services. But when it comes to the security (a hot topic in the cloud industry) they start showing their concern.

What are the main disadvantages of cloud computing?

Certainly, the main obstacle is the security concerns, but this is something that can be kept under control by service-level agreements (SLA) and regular audits. This shows the entire view towards the cloud, which indicates where the winds are flowing.

Where and what

Customers need to know where their data is stored in which data center, and we feel the market that many people are worried about the cloud don’t even know about its benefits. Most companies want to keep their infrastructure under control. That is why the private cloud will in the future more important than the public clouds. With a private cloud, you get the same advantages as those of a public cloud, but the hardware is dedicated to you only. Then you are free to work in collaboration with hosting suppliers that offer a little wind as a private cloud to their customers, so that you can get the best results of both worlds.

You should also know the controller configuration on your cloud, analyze the smallest details of your data, check and validate all access, know where your data is processed and stored, and be sure to check for possibilities of risk.

Hybrid model

However, all investigators and market analysts agree on the fact that cloud computing is inevitable, but what could be more logical? Companies do not want to develop their infrastructure, and many are busy (slowly but surely) transferring their non-critical applications to the cloud infrastructure. Large organizations, especially those with sensitive data, also want the benefits of cloud computing, but they are not willing to set up their infrastructure outside their premises; they agree with cloud solutions and like to use its benefits. They are trying to build a private cloud setup in their internal infrastructure. Therefore, ultimately we can expect that most part of customers will have a preference for a hybrid model of public and private clouds.

Google and Amazon’s idea that most clouds are the future of public clouds will become a false prediction. Almost with some exceptions, companies will trust the path of the private cloud, ideal for keeping the infrastructure perfectly under control. The availability of data and security,y and power connected for legacy applications will only be accessible to internal users. On the other side public cloud is open to several organizations and users may evolve in almost unlimited events if necessary, requires no capital investment, but leads to more security risks because of its shared nature. The customer will also have less control, since it is usually managed by external IT infrastructure, which is not uncommon, its genre by a third party (see Amazon and Google).

Organizations that are rapidly growing:

A combination of private and public clouds as a hybrid model will provide a solution. If at any point your in-house infrastructure (private cloud) seems insufficient because an application requires more computing power, you can then use a public cloud for one’s complement capacity.
