LAN – Local Area Network. A network of computers within a limited area eg building.

Modem – MOdulator and DEModulator. This device often used to transmit data over networks and telephone lines. In most cases, it used to convert digital signals from your computer to analog waves and also vice versa.

NOC – Network Operation Centre. A facility or building dedicated to maintaining network and data services.

Node – A term to represent computers connected within a network.

NSP – Network Internet Provider. They are commonly companies or organizations that maintain networks nationwide, sometimes even internationally.
