The default TCP port for FTP connections is port 21. If you are facing an FTP timeout, the most common causes are:

  1. Your firewall or Internet Service Provider (ISP) blocks this port
  2. Your FTP client is not being set to use Passive mode.

Ways to Prevent FTP Timeout :

  1. Enable Passive mode in your FTP client.
  2.  Check If the problem continues to appear between your computer and port 21.
  3. If there is a difficulty with the connectivity, you must try to temporarily deactivate your local firewall.
  4. If the problem continues, you should contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance.
