In this guide, we will demonstrate how to run a backup via the command line. Although experienced users can schedule cPanel backups and configure storage in WHM, this section focuses on executing manual backup scripts from the command line.

Follow these steps to run a backup via the command line:

  1. Log into the “WHM” account as root.
  2. Select the “Server Configuration” tool and click on the “Terminal”.
  3. Execute the following command-
    /usr/local/cpanel/bin/backup
  4. To observe background processes in real time, run the following command with the additional option-
    /usr/local/cpanel/bin/backup –debug
