How to Verify Domain Ownership

To verify domain ownership in cPanel is an essential security measure. It confirms that the domain belongs to you and ensures it isn’t linked to multiple websites simultaneously.

If you registered your domain under one bodHOST account but want to use it with a website hosted on another bodHOST account, verify ownership by adding a TXT record to the domain’s DNS zone through cPanel.

Steps to Verify Domain Ownership

Follow these easy steps to confirm domain ownership and ensure secure access to your website.

Locate Your Verification Record

1. Log in to your cPanel account.
2. In the Domains section, click on Domains.
3. Do one of the following:
   1. For domains that already exists in cPanel >> Locate it in the list and proceed.
   2. If your domain is not added yet >> Click Create a New Domain in the top-right corner, enter your domain name, and add it.
4. Once your domain is added, check if it is registered with another bodhost account:
   1. If yes >> A notification will appear asking you to verify the domain.
   2. If no >> You can still proceed with verification if needed.
5. When the verification screen appears, you will immediately see the TXT Record details.
6. Click the Copy button next to the TXT Value to save it, you’ll need this for the next step.

Add the TXT Record in cPanel

1. Log in to the cPanel account that manages your domain’s DNS.
2. Scroll down to the Domains section and choose Zone Editor.
3. Find your domain in the list and click Manage.
4. Select Add Record.
5. Change the record Type to TXT.
6. Fill in the following details:
   

   Name (Host)	TXT Value	TTL
   @	Paste the copied value	14400

7. Click Save Record. 

Confirm and Complete Verification

1. DNS updates can take up to 24 hours.
2. After the changes are active, return to the platform or service that requested the verification.
3. Use the Verify or Check button (as available) to confirm ownership.
4. As soon as the system detects the TXT record, your domain will be successfully verified.
