The following tutorial explains how to change the permission for a file in cPanel. The user, as well as other processes and files that require access to the file, may make requests to read, write, or execute.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Before knowing the process let us understand the levels of file permission:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

a) Read permission: It allows a file to be read.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

b) Write permission: It enables a file to be modified.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

c) Execute permission: It allows a file to be executed.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Follow the steps to change file permissions in cPanel:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

  1. Log in to cPanel.

  2. Select the \u201cFile Manager\u201d sub-option under the \u201cfiles\u201d option.

  3. Select the file whose permission needs to be changed.<\/li>\r\n
  4. Click on the \u201cPermissions\u201d option.

  5. A window will open up. Here you can change the permissions settings by selecting or deselecting the small box.<\/li>\r\n
  6. As soon as you tick on the check box it will become blue.<\/li>\r\n
  7. The permission value changes after changing the settings.<\/li>\r\n
