From time to time, our technical support department is asked how to direct website visitors to view a website over HTTPS. Here is an example:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

If a visitor goes to a website using http:\/\/mydomain.com. This is not secure so you can force them to always use the shared SSL certificate. Which is secure and encrypted so no one can see any data being transmitted except the party sending and the party receiving it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Shared SSLs included on all our Shared Hosting plans as standard. If you are not familiar with SSL certificates, please view our article on it. If you have a dedicated SSL and want to make all of your website traffic use your dedicated SSL. We have a helpful tutorial on that on our knowledge base page.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Forcing your visitors to use the Shared SSL<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u00a0To force your visitors to use the shared SSL certificate that bodHOST provides:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    \r\n
  1. Log into your cPanel<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  2. Go to the section called \u201cRedirects\u201d<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  3. Set the redirect \u201ctype\u201d to \u201cPermanent (301)\u201d<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  4. Next, go to \u201chttp:\/\/(www.)\u201d and choose the domain name you want to force SSL on<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  5. Enter your website URL using the Shared SSL option next to the \u201credirects to\u201d field<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  6. We recommend that you select the \u201cRedirect with or without WWW\u201d option. So that any visitor forced to use the SSL connection whether they use mydomain.com or www.mydomain.com<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  7. Ensure the \u201cWild Card Redirect\u201d option is checked<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  8. Click \u201cAdd\u201d<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    During this example, we used the bodhost.com<\/a> domain and redirected it to the secure108.bodhost.com\/~bodhosti7 (please change this to your own website URL)<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
