The server usually throws this error when there is a failure to start apache. The above description can be found in the error logs of the server.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Solutions:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Step 1: Open file \/etc\/init.d\/httpd<\/b> OR \/usr\/sbin\/apachectl<\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Step 2: Add `ulimit -n 65536`<\/b><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

{The error usually occurs due to the lower number of file descriptors<\/b>.}<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

To check the limit of file descriptors over the server described within the file \/proc\/sys\/fs\/file-max, <\/i>run the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

# cat \/proc\/sys\/fs\/file-max
\r\n1024<\/code><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

If the value found in fs.file-max<\/i><\/strong> small, you must increase<\/strong> it by running the following command:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

# echo \u201c65535\u2033<\/i> > \/proc\/sys\/fs\/file-max<\/i><\/code><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

To save these settings<\/strong> for future reboots to keep the values, you may add it to the file \/etc\/sysctl.conf<\/b>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

# Maximum number of open files permitted<\/b>
fs.file-max = 65535<\/b><\/code><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

To load new values from the sysctl.conf file<\/strong>, run:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

# sysctl -p \/etc\/sysctl.conf<\/code><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
