          When your website is hosted on a shared server, the server's resources are shared across all of the sites that are hosted there. In terms of who grabs the available resources first, it's a bit of a free-for-all. While shared servers will still commit some resources to your site, it isn't always enough - especially if your site, as well as the other sites housed on the same server, receives a lot of traffic.

          With a dedicated server, you're only restricted by the resources available on the server - and even at peak times, these resources (RAM, bandwidth) are unlikely to run out. This implies that your server will never become clogged when handling thousands of requests at once, resulting in faster service.
