How do you guys go about the researching part when it comes to buying products that are deemed trustworthy?

As a user I check for the popularity and the genuineness of the site. Check for the user opinions regarding the site. Most obvious part about making your site seem trustworthy is showcasing your website’s security badges...like for e.g. PayPal,Verisign,McAfee.

I would like to add customer reviews in the mix as well. Whenever, i am on the lookout for new products...always make sure that i go through customer reviews.

One often overlooked aspect is displaying contact information, a single phone number or email address. Even if they don't need to contact anyone, just knowing the information is available will reinforce trust / confidence that the site is backed by actual people.

I would say the SSL certification and privacy policy make any ecommerce site trustworthy.
