  • FTPS or SFTP?

What do you use, FTPS or SFTP?

  • #2
Well I often use FTP, but it’s a shame to say I use the FTP to exchange with my web spaces in my various hosts and they rarely offer FTPS or SFTP. A simple SSH access allows using the SFTP?

SFTP can be used with just a SSH server, if you can take control via putty on your server then you can do the SFTP (via FileZilla particular). To return to the site, I think it becomes downright pro-Microsoft, it might be aware that there is still something in the computer world.

Btw, SFTP can be used on a port other than port 22, I find the SFTP much cleaner than the FTPS personally.

the Difference between SFTP and FTPS

While FTPS affixes an additional layer to the legacy FTP protocol, SFTP essentially acts as an extension to the SSH protocol. This means that both transport protocols do not share any association but exist to initiate a transfer of files between systems.
