The term “tag” can be used as a noun or verb. As a noun, a tag is a basic element of the languages used to create web pages (HTML) and similar languages like XML. Another, more recent meaning of tag is related to reader-crearted tags where blogs and other content (such as photos, music, etc.) may be “tagged” which means to assign a keyword, such as “politics” or “gardening”, this enables searches for “all the blog postings in the past week that are tagged ‘prenatal care’”
What is IPS Tag ?
IPS Tag stands for Internet Provider Security Tag. IPS Tag is the case sensitive label that applies to each ISP and is required to transfer domain names from one ISP to another. All ISPs are allocated these tags when they apply to become an ISP. Nominet is the registry for UK domain names and all hosting companies that host .uk domains will have an IPS tag (also known as a Nominet Provider tag or IPS Key) which signifies membership of Nominet. The tag is used to identify the company responsible for the management of a .uk domain. It is a single alpha-numeric sequence, in uppercase, sometimes hyphenated.
How to change IPS Tag in your domain ?
To change the IPS Tag on your domain name you will need to login to your control panel for example at http://cp.bodhost.co.uk search for the domain name you wish to modify.Now go to Details of your domain>Change your IPS Tag.
Note: After you will change this tag you will have no futher control over your domain name.
How to change the name servers on your domain name?
To change the name servers on your domain name you will need to login to your control panel for example at http://cp.bodhost.co.uk go to the Domain>Manage>Details of your domain>Change name server’s section.
After your changing it will take 24 hours for the new name server to resolve.
Note:This is only relevant to the domain names that are registered or that were fully transferred to bodhost.co.uk.
