Exact usage of apache server

My frien is a greenhand in the web field, and he asked me what is apache server and the exact use of it.
Here is my answer, hope it helps.

Apache was developed at the same place the HAL 9000 computer was created. It is an open source webserver software that allows us to serve up webpages even from the comfort of our own home. My apache is running as we speak,er,type.

Apache Web Server is a Web Server which is mainly used for the following OS -

a) Unix-Like OS
b) Windows
c) Novell NetWare

The following are the features of a Web Server -

a) It Serves both Static/Dynamic Web Pages
b) It is a Server Component of LAMP / Linux / MySQL / PHP / Perl / Python programming languages
c) Apache wweeb server also integrates with Mac OS X / Borland
d) Security of Apache web server is relatively higher.
