windows sound does not work..

Hey I will appreciate if any of you'll can help.
I am using a windows xp sp2 home edition.
And I then installed Video Lan 0.8.6a with default settings and also installed the newly built ffdshow and now my window's sound does not work.
I can hear the sound when i play movies and sound tracks, however with windows browser I cannot hear any sound,I will appreciate if anyone can help.
Please Note : The speakers work and i have checked the volume and sound settings.

I fear the same problem has not occured with you. Am i right, does your sound does not work in flash.

In the Audio Tab, are there more than one entry in midi devices dropdown at the bottom, i suggest you to choose another one. switch tabs or close/reopen dialog.I guess his should sort out the problem, if not i am afraid you are heck alot in a problem. In this situation, VLC does not make more changes to the registry.
