Default Green options

With the ever growing interest in the environment and new opportunities for 'green' Windows VPS servers, what are the current or future possibilities for this option on dedicated servers?

From what I understand, green web hosting (if this is what you mean by green options) is a procedure that data centers adapt to help the environment. The servers will be the same but the wed hosting companies will practice greener actions like getting energy efficient hardware for the servers or having a data center that can generate its own electrical power like solar panels.

Flasher, that is my understanding too. I have also read there are ways to almost close down the server when it is not being used, which seems odd to me. Is it like a standby mode?

Standby mode for data centers, that sounds interesting. I don't know how they will make the servers go into standby mode because the websites in those servers will become unavailable if the servers are sleeping. Maybe someone can explain to us how data centers do standby mode.

Well, I am not too sure about standby mode of the servers in the datacenter, however, as far as I know, green web hosting basically refers to the use of servers which use less energy. Also, there are many datacenters which are trying to generate energy with the use of natural resources such as solar energy which can also be referred as green web hosting

I think that every country is becoming more conscious of "green needs" so it only makes sense that hosting companies will migrate towards a green business model. No pun intended.

I agree, this is definitely going to be the hot topic of the next decade. I'd be interested to know more and whether Bodhost sees themselves playing a role in this area in the future.

Not trying to be a party-pooper here but emissions of CO2 are directly proportional to economical development of every country in the World. Lower the CO2 and you are responsible for lowering the standard. No exceptions here... It kinda makes you wonder why some World leaders are insisting on "greener" future.

This whole save the planet movement it does have some cultish feeling to it. If you're not a part of it, you will certainly be judged, if not worse.
