Default Windows based software

What are some issues I might run into when using Windows based hosting? Would I run into more expense due to Windows based software requirements?

May I know what do you refer "some issues" with?

If you speak about costs then Windows based hosting is expensive than Linux based hosting. This is because, Linux is an Open-source OS whereas Windows OS Licensing Fee is payable. If the software are not available for free then it will be expensive for no doubt.

Windows based software are never free and are always very expensive. Aside from that each license has limited number of users. Updates are also seldom free since they develop newer softwares instead of developing updates for existing softwares.

Oh man even updates cost extra usually? If I use Linux, will it be hard to get used to? I have never used anything but Windows and I don't know any other programs but I'm not very familiar with website maintenance or hosting at all so I'm hoping it won't be a task at all?

I've always used Windows for my personal computer, and Linux for my hosting. The cost is a big factor, certainly. If you don't need Windows to fulfill your needs, I don't see why you wouldn't just use Linux.

Quilceda, did you find it difficult to use the Linux system initially after being accustomed to Windows on your personal computer? I'm curious as I've heard some say its harder than if you use windows exclusively or Linux exclusively?

Yes, I was afraid added expenses was going to be my main issue. So speaking from someone who has no idea about either truly, I could easily go into using Linux and have basically the same setup and options as Windows?
