Server for gaming

Do you provide servers for gaming ? if yes, which server do you recommend ? Please give me an advice about the operating systems I should choose for my game server ? Linux or Windows ? Should I purchase a control panel with the server if I want to run games on the server ?

Yes bodhost do provide game servers. You can use Linux as well as Windows based server for gaming. Server requirements depends on the type of game and number of users. It's not necessary to install control panel to run game server.

Thank you for your quick answer. I am not too sure that I will have a control panel with the server or not but if suppose I buy a server now and I want to install a control panel later on, will I be able to do it ? will the support department do it for me or I will have to do it on my own ?

Just to add in here,

Plesk also offers a few gaming modules that allows games such as Counter Stirke to be hosted on the server or i would suggest that you should have a look at SCInterface gaming control panel or Tcadmin.

Once you have purchased the license from them, we can definitely assist you with the installation / configuration procedures.

Do game servers like these have to run on dedicated servers or can they run on the shared accounts? I was just thinking if you did not have a

e amount of people playing, it would be nice to be able to run this from the smaller account.

It is not really possible to host gameservers with a Shared hosting account. The resources which are required to run a gameserver are high and the resources which are provided with a Shared hosting account are not enough for it. Also, you should have root access to the server if you wish to run games on it and as far as I know, you are not provided with the root access to the server with a Shared hosting package. If you wish to run a gameserver then a Dedicated server is the best option ( Confirm with the web hosting provider if they provide servers for gaming ) or else you should atleast consider a VPS with a high configuration to run a gameserver.
