Default What's Less of a Hassle - VPS or Dedicated?

I'm thinking of upgrading my shared account to something more reliable, powerful and worry free. Many of you here advised me to go VPS first. But I plan to grow my sites pretty big so I wanted to know what out of these two would be less difficult (also I'm considering the financial moment as well):

1) Upgrading to VPS and latter on upgrading to dedicated.
2) Upgrading directly to dedicated.

Thanks!

I'm not an expert, but I think you should go straight to dedicated option, because the prices are somewhat similar and from the start your sites get the full attention.

I definitely decided that I don't need either of these two options. But still I would like to know the answer to this question, it may help me latter on.

What exactly is the difference between VPS and Dedicated? I thought that I understood, but I am not sure any longer as to whether or not I really did understand, after following some of the threads on here.

Dedicated Server is a complete node onto which multiple VPSs are setup. Hope that defines the difference much easily.

If you are looking forward to a reliable solution which is cheaper and your requirements haven't increased or haven't increased a lot then you can consider a VPS and then upgrade to a dedicated server when your requirements increase in future

If you consider a Dedicated Server, the whole hardware and it's resources are dedicated to you and your websites.

A VPS is a Virtual Private Server and a number of VPS's are created on a dedicated server using a Virtualization application. A Virtual Private Server offers almost the same features of a dedicated server but with less resources.

Please feel free to post if you have any further questions

dedicated is much more flexible than VPS, because in case of dedicated server full server is dedicated for you. So if you able to pay some extra cost then you can upgrade directly to dedicated.
