Also, even if you pay for the hosting package after you upgrade, you won't receive good quality services from the free hosting provider.
True.Since you have very limited access of the website, the free hosting provider would take the opportunity to place their adds on your website/webpages.It might also be harmful from and SEO point of view. They would usually keep a do-follow link of the website placed on your domain, hence the link juice from your website would flow to that site.

rightly said, this is very obvious that even if your hosting package is free or a paid ones you will do some marketing. If you are with free hosting stuff and try to do a good SEO, the banner ads on your website will definitely flow away the link juice from your site with the dofollow attribute.

Overall, the downsides outweigh any benefits that might be available from this. I'm curious as to what would incline someone to go with a free hosting service in the first place.

The first benefit is the fact that you will be able to host your website for free if you choose a free web hosting service

Some of the website owners choose free web hosting providers as they feel that why should they pay for a service when they can get it for free. Also, free web hosting providers claim to offer many free services and benefits which attract some of the new people in the web hosting industry.

However, later, they realize that they should have chosen a paid hosting provider to host the website as it would have given them more benefit and features with reliability which is very important

IMO such users have nothing to do with quality and weigh price more. But,these users definately learn things the hardway, when there website/s and online business starts suffering. Its only then, that they shift to paid hosting accounts.

As many people have already told the limitations of free web hosting services, such as bandwidth, diskspace, etc.... I think its a full stop on your websites growth if you go for a free hosting, you cannot expect good features, excellent server uptime which helps improving your website performance and the most important thing Customer Service which is much necessary when your website face a server downtime.

I feel bad for those who are not educated (or not knowing they should be) when getting a free host, getting an amazing site together and then having to deal with the pain of transferring it (and sometimes you cant) to a new place.

This is IMO due to the lack of research and reading thats important before choosing a web hosting provider.Users simply tend to get attracted towards attractive phrases used by hosts. But,before looking at the reviews and customer testimonials sign up with such false committing websites. The only thing that can be suggested would be doing some research about the host and the company before signing up for a web hosting package.

Apart from bandwidth, disk space, support, scalabilty and etc. You cannot predict when the Server IP is banned for any reason and you are left with great anguish and resentment to face a crestfallen for choosing the hosting provider and moreover, In this world paid services are not necessarily reliable how can one trust the free service.

This is one of the reasons one should never choose free web hosting service. Free web hosting services are used by many of the website owners to send number of emails i.e. Spams and due to this reason, the IP's of the free web hosting providers get blacklisted quite often.

If you choose a free web hosting service and the other website owner who has the website hosted on the same IP address sends spams and the IP gets blacklisted, your website will also get banned :(

Hi all,

According to other forums - "It has these worderful features, however, you should make sure you will not get Vista panel for free as it is a licensed skin and you will have to pay charges for it"

Is this true?

Thanks in advance

If I'm new to creating a website and using it, and I'm not looking to profit from my site yet, would it be okay to use a free hosting service? I don't have budget for paying for hosting right now.

If you do not have budget right now, then I would suggest you firstly to book a domain for yourself as it might get registered by someone else. Then start saving money for the purchasing a smallest web hosting package maybe a shared package. In the meanwhile until you save enough money to buy a package you can work on developing your website.

I would definitely not recommend a free hosting service as there are more disadvantages than advantages.
