Default Configuring PRTG Network Monitor on Hyper-V

I just got PRTG Network Monitor installed. I was starting to configure it and was wondering if anyone had any advice, suggestion, or pitfalls to watch out for on a Hyper-V server?

According to my knowledge there are no pitfalls with PRTG. I think you need to understand its features carefully so you can use it in the right manner:

Here is a glimpse at PRTG key new features:
  • Higher security: the PRTG cluster function allows users to build a
  • fail-safe, distributed monitoring system.
  • Newly designed web interface, including a mini-HTML interface for
  • mobile access, specifically designed for iPhone and Blackberry, as
  • well as Android and Windows Mobile devices
  • New Google Maps support integrated in the web interface for displaying
  • geographical maps
  • Advanced "Maps" functions for creating custom network views
  • Real time availability of historic data
  • Integrated, native Linux monitoring functions
  • Monitoring of virtual environments (VMware, HyperV, Xen
  • Reliable alarm system via email, SMS, instant messenger, pager
  • message, HTTP request, syslog, etc.
  • Inclusion of a variety of new sensors and remote probes to monitor

PRTG does not officiall support installation on hyper-v. Recommended virtual machines are VMware ESX(i) Servers. PRTG should still work on hyper-v, but there might be some problems, e.g. with packet sniffing.
For monitoring hyper-v systems, PRTG has the following sensors:
Hyper-V Host Server Sensor
• Hyper-V Virtual Machine Sensor
• Hyper-V Virtual Network Adapter Sensor
• Hyper-V Virtual Storage Device Sensor
