Secuirty on VP hosting

Dear All,

I am planing to VP hosting and which is giving root access . What I am wondering is Can the host provider login to our system and steal the data ? is this possible? How do I protect the data ? I know if I get root access in virtual machine no one can do any thing . But want to double check . Are there any precautions I need to take ? Sorry if this very dumb question

You will get root access with a VPS and you can access all the data. The support team members of the hosting provider will definitely be able to access your data on the VPS and I don't think the support team members will steal the data on your VPS as they have access to the data of all the servers. Taking the backup of the data is always recommended but this won't help you to keep the data away from the support members of the hosting provider and I don't even think it's needed. You only need to choose the right and trusted hosting provider which will ensure the safety of data.

The only way your data will be always yours is owning your on DC.

But common, do you really think a host is going to go into your server and steals files?

You can always encrypt them...
