Default What does IPv6 mean for VPS?

When the new IPv6 becomes more common, what does that mean for VPS accounts?

Will VPS owners have to configure their servers for IPv6 (is it advanced stuff?)

Or is it something done on the data center level?

I noticed that BurstNet has started to advertise IPv6 for their customers. So I'm assuming that it's something under the control of the customer, but what exactly has to be done when the server is unmanaged?

Thanks.

It will become more usual as time progresses. However, all we are well aware that Ipv6 is still in its infancy stage. Most of the OS system by default already support Ipv6, but it's just either technical limitation and may be the network limitation that are slowing it down.

But how it will be implemented with vps or dedicated hosting? Is it something done automatically or customization required to handle Ipv6?

According to my knowledge each Ipv6 must have an equivalent Ipv4 for backwards compatibility, which doesn't make sense since Ipv4 is limited and that get the better of the purpose of Ipv6.

Actually, I am more curious about Ipv6 implementation. I recently purchased a dedicated server and I was wondering if I'll need to implement this Ipv6 stuff in the near future or do I need to be an advanced admin to handle it.

Normally it is automatic, as similar to Ipv4 - if not its just three lines in the ipconfig and you are ready to go to use Ipv6 for all your services.

No, it doesn't.

No, you cannot implement it anyway unless your service provider supports it, and if he does he will do it or provide you a guidelines for it.
