You are right but also there are many disadvantages:
1. Limitations in Hardware : Though users have their own virtual RAM and memory space to themselves, resources are still limited. Only a small part of the full CPU is available to them.
2. Less control : Though VPS offer several operating systems to run simultaneously, some softwares do not work because of the limited hardware resources available.
3. Technical support- The user has to maintain and keep his virtual system updated. There is no technical support people to assist you out. This requires knowledge and a greater responsibility.
