Default VPS options?

What operating systems are available for VPS, and are there specific VPS platforms per OS, like hyper V for Windows...and I'm not sure what option for linux?

There are many OS available such as Linux - centOS, FedoraCore, Debian, Ubuntu and many other linux distributions on a VPS.

However, with a Hyper-V, we only offer Windows 2008 operating system.

I was under the impression that hyper V only worked on a Windows Operating System. Is that inaccurate? Can you use it on Linux installations?

Hello,

HyperV, VMware & Virtuozzo are different types pf virtualization techniques & each have their own features. The OS supported by each virtualization platform are:

HyperV : Windows 2008
VMware : Centos, FedoraCore, Debian, Ubuntu & Windows 2008
Virtuozzo: Centos, FedoraCore, Debian, Ubuntu & Windows 2003

HyperV & VMware both are hardware virtualization & Virtuozzo is a software virtualization.

You say HyperV & VMware both are hardware virtualization... does that mean there is not much difference in both?

Hello,

HyperV and VmWare both uses the hardware virtualization techniques, but the Architecture and Virtual Machine management tools used in both the technologies are different from each other.

Default Interesting

This clears up a lot of questions for me. It is good to know there is cheap VPS hosting with the added benifit of having a forum where we can get all of our questions answered. I am very pleased! Thanx
