Default VPS or Shared

What do you recommend for new websites? From reading the posts in here, I have seen the advantages of having a VPS hosting but I'm not sure if my website is ready for that.

While with shared hosting, although it has many features that is lacking, I could learn more about running my website as well as only paying a few bucks.

As I understood correctly what is advised on this forum, you should start off with shared hosting package. Then progress to VPS if your site becomes e enough to surpass the limits of your shared package. And finally if VPS is not enough you should consider paying for a dedicated server.

One thing I know is that in 80% of the cases you will be fine with some shared hosting package. If you're a complete newbie, than in 99% of the times this is true. Only when you get the hang of this and your site starts getting a lot of visitors, you can consider some more advanced options, like virtual private hosting (VPS) or dedicated server.

The only thing that I don't like with shared hosting is that some bozo with his bad site can get your server blacklisted by many reliable authorities. It's like with driving, it may not be your fault but you can get killed by some ignorant drunk driver.

Yes, I agree with the others. If you are just starting your first website and still new in this field, it's better to go for shared hosting. VPS is for experienced users. Using VPS, you will be responsible for its security and system updates.

Thanks for this advice. I will keep this in mind. And if ever I will get a shared hosting package, I would research first on the web hosting company I'm getting the package at.

By the way, the mods here are great and they have answered my questions. I would like you to go to this thread (Shared to Dedicated) for better understanding on what packages to take.

If you are just starting out, it's better to go with shared server. It way more cheaper and you really don't need a VPS or a dedicated server.

Yes firstly you should go with shared web hosting because your site is new and this is cheaper than VPS

I would suggest to to go for vps hosting because It is best suited to small and medium businesses. It has several advantages for the right users. For the end user. The strength of VPS hosting is in the virtual server's ability to work independently even though there is only one physical server. Each server may be loaded with unique resources. Since these servers are partitioned, any problem in one of the servers will not affect the other servers. In case one of the servers crash, the others will continue to function.

All it depends on the resource requirements of your website. The fact is, normally users prefer shared hosting account at very initial stage of the website, then upgrade package to vps. That's it...
