I already have several people who want to share on a VPS hosting plan with me although I do not know that is something I want to do especially since I am so new and have no experience with it (and neither do these people). How much experience do I need with VPS before I move on to reselling would you say?
That's a great question. From what I've learned in the short period that I have been on this forum, I'd say years and years. ;) No, don't take that as an answer but I do think that if you are going to be reselling then you would certainly need to know all the ins and outs of the VPS world first. Good luck! I'm sure for someone who would dedicate time to learning it would be easy!
That or I would think the company you host through would need to be willing to help you while you are still in the process of learning. I am sure it takes time to go from having your own dedicated server or VPS to then being the person who runs them all.
As with any product, you should be something of an expert before you attempt to resell web hosting, even to your friends. If you're taking money from them, directly or indirectly, they'll probably expect you to be able to answer their questions.
In the mean time, you might join an affiliate program rather than trying to do the sales yourself.
Not really.. If the servers are fully managed servers there's very little left for you to do. Just like Bodhost's servers are fully managed, all you need to do is concentrate on the sales part.
With a VPS you have full root/admin access and you can manage all your clients from the control panel itself.
So basically from what I read in the knowledgebase, if I were to choose to go with reselling and any issues were to arise, either myself or my client could simply contact Bodhost directly and the issues would be cleared asap.

Your clients will only be in contact with you. For any of your clients issues, you will need to contact Bodhost on their behalf.
I see now. I think that is not something I need to get into after all. Being as I have no clue what I am doing I would probably only cause issues for myself in doing something like that. I think I'll consider placing the Bodhost affiliate link on my site instead.
I wouldn't want to get into something like this myself because I never did it before and I don't intend to learn it now. I like the idea of affiliate earnings more than any other.
If you're a reseller, you don't manage the server, just resell the packages. But, it depends on the host who will solve the issues if they happen. Maybe your customers will need to go through you or maybe you won't be bothered as they can talk to the hosting support directly. Ask you host about this.
