I thought I would bring this up here cause I'd like to see it discussed.
I use my server a lot for BNC'ing to IRC. I let multiple others setup BNC accounts on my server also. The problem this creates is exceeding network connection limits on IRC. The solution is to have more IPs available to connect from.
I know Bodhost gives extra IPs if you can justify them for like $1/IP/month extra, I was just wondering if I have a good reason to have more or not based on what I just said.
My other reason for sort of wanting more is to have more available "vhosts" to use. I doubt this is a valid reason though.

As I understand it, the general rule of thumb for ARIN justification of IP addresses is that the requested IP addresses will be used for something that requires it's own IP address. AFAIK, these are some of the uses new IP addresses that are justified: IRC virtual hosts, private name servers, mail servers, private FTP, and SSL Sites.
It should. As far as I know, ARIN doesn't really care what you use your IP for, as long as it is actually used. What they don't want is for IPs to remain unused for a long period of time. So, say, you buy IPs in bulk. If you do so, you have to have a justifiable reason to use them within a set period of time (I'm not sure how long an IP address can sit idle).
