Installing GD Library

Hi, so far found everything on here Brilliant, will do a testimonial in a bit, found most stuff in forums. I've just installed e107 and need GD library for image uploads etc, as far as the library installations on linux go i'm quite a n00b, i have the directory for GD in lib,, when i run ./configure i get "checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables", and thats as far as it goes, is GD already there but i need to do something, or am i going the right way but need to do something else? any help appreciated :D

hey try this ---
when you run ./configure

e.g

./configure --with-gd

i think though, annoyingly, you need to install libjpeg & libpng first because for some insane reason theyre not included.

i dont understand the logic of them bundling gd with php as a 'convinience' when all the libraries needed to make it work still have to be obtained & installed manually!

well its been sorted, gd wouldnt install because of a previous problem with the C compiler altho i may still be missing something as im not seeing images whereas i am elsewhere on the same applcation on a different server

Hi,

Glad that GD issues have been sorted out :D

There are several reasons for images not being displayed, one being incorrect permissions, ownerships or paths the scripts are fetching the data from..etc..
Could you please provide us a sample to check ? Or maybe updating the ticket with appropriate details would be better & safer

Hi,

Some of files and folders under account auroraho were having ownership of root user which has been corrected now.
I would request exact URL or steps to reproduce same error if problem still persists.
