Default permissions on linux VPS

Ciao.

I don't know if you can help me but I try...

An application - an Joomla extension - is to able to create directories. The problem is these directories have "nobody" like owner and permission 755. So it's impossible change permission and delete the directories too (like root too).

When I had this application at work in a simple web host this problem not appear: the directories owner was the same for all directories.

Some ideas?

Thanks

Hello Federic,

By default, any file uploaded through web browser or a web application to the site, it is saved with the ownership of the web user "nobody". This is because of the processes of apache run with the identity of the web user.

We can fix this by enabling the PHP function SuPHP which will make the Apache processes run with the ownership of the website account being accessed. Hence, when a file is uploaded through an application, it is saved with correct ownerships.

If you want this module enabled, please email us at vps@bodhost.com from the email address on account so that it can be fixed.

Regards.
