According to my knowledge this is an online service (or whatever it is) that translates domain name to IP address. The IP address is the tag number, as similar to a house number or a telephone, which is used to identify website that connected to a Internet network.

The domain name server is very important. Each time you search domain on the internet, the domain name server (DNS) will translate the domain to the IP address and show you the web page. For example, the domain can have a www.abc.com IP: 10.10.10.10, thanks to DNS can be opened through a website.

Domain names are all-important to recognize and remember. Imagine if we had the IP address only to identify the domains on the internet, it would be not only difficult but also impossible to find, recognize and remember websites.

The process works as follows:
1 - Enter the domain you want to find in the Explorer Bar.
2 - The DNS server tells the browser the web server's IP domain.
3 - The web browser requests the page that mentioned web server in the domain name you want.
4 - The web server gives the browser page and that's it.

It is essential to know what exactly DNS is, because once you have got your domain, the next step is to make the domain point to your web hosting provider. If you purchase your domain on the same site where you host your website, this is not a problem as it is done automatically.

And, if you buy your domain in one place, and want to stay in another, you have to change the DNS settings. I usually recommend buying a company domain and host it on another, so there will be no problem if you ever decide to change overnight. And so you have more control over your domains. In this case, you just need to update nameservers, which are usually provided with welcome email.

To change the DNS settings, only you need to find the DNS configuration area on the site where you bought the domain and then change the DNS settings. These setting are usually provided with the welcome email after registering your web hosting account. Each company has its own DNS, but DNS is an example of this: ns1.abc.com.
