Hello,

Shared SSL is a ssl which can be used by all the domains hosted on a server. These SSLs are usually installed on hostname of the server, and can be accessed by temporary URL. This can be used by domains for a temporary time.

Private SSL is used by particular domains, and bind to single domain only it is issued especially for single domain by a trusted authority.
This SSL is mainly used by the domains hosting shopping carts and commercial sites.

Hello,

Yes, the SSL certificate will effect the speed of site because the the connections for the sites are encrypted & decrypted on server side as well as on the client side.
