Exactly! But it takes baby steps, as you learn your way around and in the meantime you still have to be able to support yourself financially and that means that a novice is unlikely to be able to do it 100% from the outset.

I believe that the decision is up to you because none of us can perceieve what is more important in your case. I'm a practical man and I would always learn myself to do something rather that spending money and hiring someone, but sometimes that's not possible.

Learn yourself is my advice. It won't take that long and you will save tons of money in the long run. Or, if you're in a hurry, hire some friend for cheap.

Once you learn this particular job to do by yourself, you'll start to see the opportunities and who knows, maybe you end up building other people's sites for money.

Outsourcing is always the easy way out. That is until you want something done and do not know how to explain to the person who is maintaining the site for you. I decided to learn as I go to avoid issues like that.
