Let me add a point to it. PR has lost it's importance to what it used to have earlier.
I completely agree to Shane Philips that " PR has lost it's importance to what it used to have earlier."

Google gives importance to the quality of the website, however, it is noticed that Google is now giving more importance to the number of backlinks the website has got and as Google PR is based upon the same, the quality of the content of the website is loosing it's importance.
I disagree to you.

Page Rank has lost its importance as many webmasters managed to get 1000's of back links from Link Farms and this is termed as violation as per Google. Also, irrelevant websites is termed as violation of Google's Quality Guidelines, and soon, Google is going to remove such websites from their Index.

Quality Content has always been and will always be the foremost priority of Google.

I absolutely completely agree with you. The only reason it appears that content is not important is because it is very difficult to create a piece of software that can recognize good content. THis is very much a subjective, human interpretation and it is impossible to have so many employees to sit and read each and every website to determine the quality of the content. I presume they will come up with a solution very soon though.

I agree that the bottom line is always content that is quality. It is definitely harder to ensure quality content. It sure seems like development for something that checks this will be coming along soon. I absolutely agree with you kaching.
