Default IPS in CP?

Where can I locate and IP of a user in my CP? Or wherever it is I would do this. Should I come across a user that I want to ban from my site, where would I go to do this?

If you use any software like Wordpress or a forum, then it should have some IP logging capabilities. Otherwise, you could check the logs in cPanel. There are a lot logging software in there, but you could try AwStats (check the Hosts section). Once you have the IP address you want to ban, you can use cPanel to ban the IP, just go to Security > IP Deny Manager.

Nice tip, Dave! Reading logs has never been my strong point, though, so how to check for suspicious activity in the logs? Is there anything that we should keep an eye out for?

Thanks DaveM. I know where the Awstats are but I've never seen the IP Deny Manager. Thanks for pointing this out to me. I will give it a try today. I assume you can unban the same way?

Hi,

That's right you can add and remove the IP's from the IP Deny Manager option.

You would have to got to Htaccess to allow a particular IP. Or there is a tab name Remove in front of the banned IP, you simply have to click it. Or else you can contact your web hosting provider and ask them to unban it.
