Default How to do flash?

Lately I've come up with a couple of ideas for a site logo for myself. Then I thought of an animated image. That didnt seem hard. But I wanted to go even further by making a flash header. The problem is, I don't know where to start. What programs do I need to start doing flash? Where should I learn it? Also is it possible to have tabs using flash so that they change focus depending on which page it is on and when it is hovered over by the cursor.

Hi, you'd need Macromedia Flash installed on your local machine to create your own flash sites/logs/templates. You'd find many ready-made flash templates for your website on certain sites. Search them on Google, download the templates, edit/customise them in Macromedia Flash & then upload them to your website..

Lots of help and great tutorials are available to get started with Flash, just google

Yes tabs in Flash can be created.

It's also a nice idea to take a look at the ready to use Flash templates that are available in the market.

Is Macromedia Flash free to use? If I made something like a gif file, can I change that easily into a flash file? (for animations) Can you loop one action forever?

Flash is a licensed product.. you'd need to check the price list on their website...
To your other questions, yes, you can have one single action looped forever, using Flash

While Flash navigation might look great - won't it affect your search engine rankings? Google's spiders can't read the code behind it to index the pages within your site.

That could be a problem...Google doesn't do anything except for HTML or something? I've never done flash so does it take a long time to do? Is there actual code that I have to make step by step? If so, I don't feel like it is worth the work.

Yep, Google & other search engines won't read through the flash or images. Flash only makes your site look attractive.. avoid it if you want a plain site with lots of text.. As mentioned earlier, there are lots of ready-made flash templates available over the web, you can have them customized as per your requirement... hence doing flash won't be time consuming as well.. but would make your site more attractive

Well how much time it might take totally depends on how familiar you are with using Flash.

If you aren't much familiar with Flash but still need a flash website, you can opt for a ready made template. All you have to do is choose a flash template, change the appearance to suit your needs and add the content.

You can use the Flash template and edit the template according to your needs. You may also find a template according to your needs as there are thousands of flash templates available online.

If I download a flash template, do I have to know flash to edit it or have the program to edit it? Because I'd pefer something where I just replace text and color in the code it self.

If you want to edit a flash template, you must have a flash program to open the file source of the flash template (.fla) like Macromedia Flash. Editing is not really that hard if you have a basic understanding of how Flash works.

Is there any alternative open-source program for Flash? Because when I checked their price, its too much for me and I won't be using it everyday. I also want to install some Flash templates into my website but editing them with my own design would be great.

Before considering flash content on your website, keep in mind that it will slow down your webpage loading time. It will hurt especially the visitors who don't enjoy high speed connection.
