Default Lightbox for wordpress

akWpLightBox : simple lightbox for wordpress

You can have lightbox effect for your wordpress, you need to convert it into a wordpress plugin..

How To Install

1. Download the akwpLightbox plugin, <a href="http://www.asp-mssql.com/akwplightbox.zip">Lightbox for wordpress</a>.
2. Extract akwplightbox.zip into akwpLightbox folder.
3. Upload this folder under‘wp-content/plugin’ folder via FTP.
4. Now go to plugins section in admin and activate the plugin

How To use

Whenever you are uploading an image in your post, you'll need to link image to full size image, or to image that you want to show in the lightbox. You'll need to check “title” property of anchor tag, this will be shown below the image as caption in the lightbox.

Now, enjoy the lightbox effect.

there are a few lightbox plugins out for wordpress now, but they are all tricky to install and get working correctly, and even once you get them installed then you still have to tag all your images, unless you setup some sort of auto tag feature, and even then it doesnt work every itme, but it is nice once you figure out all the bugs and get all the workarounds working =)

Most bugs are fixed immediately if you have a bit technical know-how or you can search well....;)

I am not familiar with the "lightbox" effect. Is this the new ajax effect for image galleries an such. Please let me know, I hate being left in the dark on these things.

Yeah, Lightbox is the effect when you click on an image and your browser goes dark (though you can set the colour) and the image pops up in the middle of the screen - It's a really nice efffect, but it is heavy on the ajax and some peoples machines (albeit the older ones) tend to not like it !!

I have managed to break it a couple of times trying to get it working proper. Its one of those luck things for me. Backup the site, break it three times, do a good luck dance, 4th time it worked. It was a pain though for sure.

Good to hear that you managed to do it correctly. Sad to know that you had to try the same 4 times and you got success the fourth time But failures are the steps to success. I would suggest you to contact the support department if you face any problem as the support department of bodhost.com is always available to help you.

There's one thing with Lightbox effect that if browsers do not support Javascript, it will load images as separate file which looses Lightbox effect but retains display of full size images.

I always wondered what lightbox was!
I have seen this effect on numerous websites and wondered what scripts and codes were being used. Thanks for this tutorial, Spencer!

This has to be one of the coolest and most popular plugins for wordpress right now. I have played around with many, but this one really can make a site look so much more professional.
