Default How to use PHP in order to Backup MySQL

The following are steps to follow -

a) To execute a database backup query from PHP

<?php
include 'config.php';
include 'opendb.php';

$tableName = 'mypet';
$backupFile = 'backup/mypet.sql';
$query = "SELECT * INTO OUTFILE '$backupFile' FROM $tableName";
$result = mysql_query($query);

include 'closedb.php';

In order to restore backup, you will need to run LOAD DATA INFILE as follows -

<?php
include 'config.php';
include 'opendb.php';

$tableName = 'mypet';
$backupFile = 'mypet.sql';
$query = "LOAD DATA INFILE 'backupFile' INTO TABLE $tableName";
$result = mysql_query($query);

include 'closedb.php';
?>

b) To run mysqldump through system() function

<?php
include 'config.php';
include 'opendb.php';

$backupFile = $dbname . date("Y-m-d-H-i-s") . '.gz';
$command = "mysqldump --opt -h $dbhost -u $dbuser -p $dbpass $dbname | gzip > $backupFile";
system($command);
include 'closedb.php';
?>

c) To use phpMyAdmin to backup

In phpmyadmin, click on "export", select the database to be backed up, select the SQL and the enter the name of the backup file.
