Ruby on rails is a web application framework which was introduced to increase the speed and ease in web development. It was released in July 2004 and was extracted from a project management tool basically named as Basecamp by David Heinemeier Hansson.

Ruby on Rails is not a code generator, it is a framework in which has everything that is required to start. It is built for databse driven web applications which includes model-view controller architecture and coded templates and is based on two well-known architectural models: MVC and n-tier design, it is definitely based on a sophisticated platform for building web applications

Rails has a lot of powerful features to make it easy to prototype and develop applications quickly, which will leave you with more time to think about your application's features and how to tune it for performance.

Well, let me diffrentiate between ASP.NET and rail framework, ASP.NET is a compiled, <a href="http://www.bodhost.com/ " target="_blank" title=" managed " style="color:#000000;text-decoration:none;"managed </a> framework for building web applications on a Microsoft .NET Framework, where as when compared rails is a framework in which developers can develop their applications using Ruby programming language.
