Default phpBB3

Does anyone here tried using phpBB3? What are the features does it offer? Was it good? I just got the news about it today but I have not tried downloading it yet.

Needs to be confirmed, if it is good, with one who has used it.

phpBB3 is probably one of the best free forums out there. I personally use it because there is lots of support and many mods that can be installed to imitate the features of other forum services. It is also simple to use and require little knowledge to customize.

I've tried it out a few times but the permission system gives me headaches. It works fine for the most part, but there are those times when I get permission errors, especially on custom user groups. It makes me just want to slam my head into the desk. >_<

Where does the permission system appear? Does it need a serial number or something? I hope the phpBB3 developers would take a look at it and sort the problem out soon. Maybe the file that you have downloaded is corrupted?

The permissions is just hard to do because you need to set is for each individual rank and forum and it takes a long time to do all of it. Nothing that they can really improve on.

Is this not also the most popular forum software for having malicious things happen when some random addon breaks or is exploitable (is that even a word?)

I am not sure I have ever heard anything good about phpbb

Well, phpBB is open source and it is done by a group of people that have lives out side of phpBB. Obviously it will never be as good as paid forums such as vB or IPB. But, comparing it to a few other free forums like MyBB, YAF, and SMF, it offers lots more things that can be useful. Also, don't be dumb with add-ons.
