Well to get an idea of what you can and can't do, I'd first look for a similar existing site to what you'd like to create. Once you're on that site try to see what it was coded in by looking at the URLs. If you see something like page.php, then I think it's safe to say that it was coded in PHP. However, if you see some Java applet pop up, then it was probably coded in Java instead. That doesn't necessarily mean it's not possible in PHP though but usually it seems that Java is more appropriate for more complex things.

I'm no expert though so keep that in mind, good luck with learning it.

Thanks for the help. I have been looking at php for the last few days and it looks very similar to java. (As it should since they both come from C) Thank you Nefrec for helping with the testing portion. My next goal is to create a link between home page and forums.

For beginners, they would think that PHP is too difficult to learn. Once they get through the process of learning it, they will realize that it is so easy to handle php as much as they handled HTML. But PHP has its own limitations like it won't give the performance of "C" or "C++" language, because PHP is not a 100% pure object-oriented scripting language. And yes it is possible to make a radio script using just PHP. I think Nefrec explained it well.

Why is it that no one followed up this question? I would also like to know what other languages are available to me. Is there something easier than PHP?

For Web site work, I don't think any other language is as useful or powerful as PHP, given an equivalent amount of investment in learning.
