Default MySQL and MS SQL

I realize that MySQL is OpenSource and therefore will often be criticized unjustly however I would like to know if you think that MySQL is as capable of "getting the job done" as MS SQL is said to be?

You can use Access as your database management system and do just fine. I think pretty much any of the databases systems out there are capable of getting the job done just fine as you mentioned.

From what I know, Access has its limitations so if you think that your website will hold large database in the future then avoid Access.

I heard about PostgreSQL that it is better than MySQL. I never really tried it so I can't compare it.

I say stick to the database program that is comfortable for you to use.

PostgreSQL is a good database system, however, if you wish to choose between the two, MySQL is a better option as it is found to be very stable and you'll get enough support for it through online documentations.

The database management system you should choose basically depends on your requirements and the applications you wish to run

One great advantage of using MySQL is its cross-platform capabilities. You can develop your database on a Windows laptop and deploy on Windows Server 2003, just to name a few potential platforms. This gives you a lot of versatility when choosing server hardware. It is very fast.A nice feature of MSSQL2MYSQL is the ability to dump all statements into a text file, which you can then review and edit before executing on the MySQL server.

Arron, that is why I like MySQL. With my crazy busy life I need all things to be as versatile as possible. The text file feature has been so incredibly useful for me.
