Default What is up2date?

It is a Red Hat Update Agent. It installs new softwares and upgrades accordingly. With front-end RPM functions which downloads / installation new softwares / upgration to O.S. / automatic dependancy resolutions. It takes packages from RHN server. It also downloads packages from yum repositories on the CentOS Mirror Network.

up2date command is used frequently on servers for regular updates of RPM's

However, it is advised that you do not run this command in a virtual environment such as a Virtual Private Server.
