Linux VPS Server Setup

I am new to VPS and i dont know much, i need to understand what are the basics to setup a Linux Server. What i am looking for is MYSQL, PHP and Mail Server, what could be the basic RAM, i guess 128 will be fine. What are Installation required. Could anyone suggest me on this.

Virtuozzo is what i am aware of. Hardware is based upon the traffic you are expecting, 128 RAM is a low configuration.

Webamin can be a good Open-Source Control Panel which helps you manage the resources on the server. mysql apache and other packages are easy to install with Yum or Apt which depends upon the platform selected, whether it is RHEL or Debian.

I have never had 1GB of ram on a VPS (but I am willing to try!!!) but the answer to your question comes down to what you are going to run on your VPS. Got a couple static pages and only using the VPS for the bw? 128 is fine. Got a PHP/MSql site with 30k pv a day? Expect lots and lots of downtime.
