Default Linux distribution

 "A Linux "distribution" is version of the Linux operating system made especially by a company, organization or individual. The one thing they all have in common is that they use the Linux kernel. From there on, each developer will add its own programs, tools and other applications. Some are dedicated to specific uses while others are intended for the general public. Again, you'll find more information at our Linux distributions page. "

Linux Distribution is basically a Unix-like OS version which definiely includes Kernel, GNU OS and many other softwares combined. It has many forms from minimum environment to fully-functional desktops / Server OS. There are more than 300 L.D. that are actively involved in the development and progress.

The distribution are basically made on the basis of technicality, organiational and way they think about. The permission granted to them of the GNU/Linux Software allows them to customize the existing distributions / design . The differences include in variations of hardware , system / software package config. They vary widely in making use of features on desktops, servers etc. They often vary on the set of criteria of security, management of packages and the number of binaries that exist. They basically have Unix utility sets as well as libraries which henceforth supports them.

Some of the Linux Distribution include -

Fedora Core (Red Hat)
SuSE Linux (Novell)
Ubuntu (Canonical LTD.)
Mandriva Linux
Debian Linux
Gentoo
CentOS
