Default Redirection?

I have an old site with about 1000 pages but since links are very old they are completely off the SEO standard. I'm moving the entire site soon on a new platform with fresh SEO optimized links. My question is this: do I need to manually specify 301 redirects in my .htaccess file for all pages or is there any better way to do this and keep all the pages in Google's index.

I recently did a few redirection commands in my .htaccess file but those were only to home page and a few other important pages. I have no idea is there any automatic way to do this.

I need to do this pretty urgent. So, if anyone has any idea let me know. I don't want to spend 3 days writing down 1000 redirections manually.
