A VPS is much cheaper than dedicated server in terms of price, and offers you more resources which will help the in enhancing the performance of your server and reducing the page loading time and due to which user experience improves. In shared hosting, you have a limited access over the server, however if you go for VPS you will have a complete freedom to install the applications and softwares of you choice on the server. Also, you will be able to upgrade the virtual server requirements any time.

I'm sorry I have to offer a different position on this one.
Yes. A VPS is much cheaper than a dedicated server. However.
How does it offer more resources? I have services on VPS sessions on hosts and they don't offer anything like the flexibility of a dedicated server.
A dedicated server is just that. Dedicated to the owner or renter. Not shared with other people running on the same rack with a bunch of other users with VPS accounts as well. You have to remember. VPS is a shared system.
Since I have been using a dedicated bodhost server I have received 0 NOP errors through my external monitoring service, however with another large provider that I monitor where I have a VPS service, I receive at least 500+ NOP responses every month. (And apparently I'm guaranteed 100% up time with them... I don't bother taking up the issue with them.)
You can upgrade your VPS services as much as you want, but at the end of the day your limited to the server your sharing with other clients.
I upgrade the hardware in my dedicated server, its mine.
Price is what you make of it.
