I am unsure about the same but wanted to know if Shared Hosting plans are created on Dedicated Servers. If yes, how can I do it and what is required in order to achieve this ?

Any help is appreciated

Cool Shared hosting on Dedicated Servers

Hello Bronson,

It is not necessary that to create shared accounts you should have dedicated server, you can create shared accounts on VPS or Reseller package.
Although the number of shared accounts matters as you get more resources on Dedicated Server than on VPS or Reseller.
To create shared account you will require Control Panel. There are different control panels for different platform such as for Linux you may opt cPanel or Plesk while for Windows Plesk or DotnetPanel.
You can create shared packages as you wish using control panel.

Please feel free to post here for more info.

Well stated by Sierra. You are not required to have a dedicated server for making shared accounts, though you may opt to do so by utilizing the dedicated server for creating shared servers and then reselling them to your clients.

Yes They are available on dedicated servers, and VPS hosting plans.

Shared hosting means a web hosting service where multiple sites are hosted on the one server/computer/vps session.

Each site "sits" on its own partition, or section/place on the server to keep it separate from other sites.

Hope that helps.

Hello Bronson,

You can create a good number of shared hosting plans on your Dedicated Servers, I would suggest you to plan a good configuration for your server and create shared plans wisely

As you already know this now that it is possible to create Shared Hosting Plans on Dedicated Servers, better to opt for Linux Dedicated Server with cPanel/WHM. This would allow you to create Shared Plans with cPanel access to each client. Each will have access to only his/her allocated resources.

Considering High End Dedicated Server provides you best performance and high reliability. You may check the best suitable plan using the below link:-

Hey Bronson,

If you are planning to start a hosting company and sell shared hosting packages then I would suggest you to consider a VPS server for a start, using cPanel / WHM Control panel, you can create multiple shared hosting packages on your VPS. Once you feel that your need for resources has increased, then you can upgrade to a Dedicated Server at any point of time.

Yes.. Thomas is absolutely correct. If you going to start a hosting business, then for a good profit you should opt for a VPS Server. The reason I am asking you to choose VPS is because it provides you the combined benefit of both shared hosting and dedicated server hosting.

A VPS is much cheaper than dedicated server in terms of price, and offers you more resources which will help the in enhancing the performance of your server and reducing the page loading time and due to which user experience improves. In shared hosting, you have a limited access over the server, however if you go for VPS you will have a complete freedom to install the applications and softwares of you choice on the server. Also, you will be able to upgrade the virtual server requirements any time.

I'm sorry I have to offer a different position on this one.

Yes. A VPS is much cheaper than a dedicated server. However.

How does it offer more resources? I have services on VPS sessions on hosts and they don't offer anything like the flexibility of a dedicated server.

A dedicated server is just that. Dedicated to the owner or renter. Not shared with other people running on the same rack with a bunch of other users with VPS accounts as well. You have to remember. VPS is a shared system.

Since I have been using a dedicated bodhost server I have received 0 NOP errors through my external monitoring service, however with another large provider that I monitor where I have a VPS service, I receive at least 500+ NOP responses every month. (And apparently I'm guaranteed 100% up time with them... I don't bother taking up the issue with them.)

You can upgrade your VPS services as much as you want, but at the end of the day your limited to the server your sharing with other clients.

I upgrade the hardware in my dedicated server, its mine.

Price is what you make of it.

I guess i agree to it. Virtual Private Servers do share resources with other users which is not the case with dedicated servers.
