Smile Setup Remote MySQL on Linux Dedicated Hosting

Follow the steps given below in order to connect to MySQL through a remote location. This is possible because MySQL Server can be changed from local server (”localhost”) to point on remote server.

Kindly follow the steps given below:

1. Login to WHM on the Linux dedicated server.

2. Select SQL Services and then click on Setup Remote SQL Server.

3. Now, you will be asked to enter the name of the remote server and it is to be entered in the 'host' section. Password is also required which is to be entered in the column provided for Remote MySQL Host Root Password.

4. Click on "Setup" and you are done.

Hope this helps....

I guess the following should help you to setup Remote MySQL on Windows Dedicated Servers :

- You will first need to download MySQL Community Server.

- Then Start Windows Installer and extract all archive files and start Setup.exe

- Select Standard Setup or customized as per requirements

- Once the installation is complete, make sure you select configure MySQL Server option

Hi Chris,

Yes, as WHM is provided with Linux Dedicated Servers only, these steps are to be followed for Linux Dedicated Servers. However, it is definitely possible to configure MSSQL for remote connections on Windows Dedicated Servers. If you wish to check the tutorial for it, you can refer the link given below:

Configure MSSQL to allow remote connections on Windows Dedicated Hosting

Thank you for explaining us the whole procedure step by step however, we don't have enough technical knowledge about the installation of database software. MySQL was pre-installed by Bodhost on our Dedicated server. Bodhost
