Default Litespeed

Have you heard of or tried out Litespeed? It's a server software that's an alternative to (and completely interchangeable with) Apache. It's not free software like Apache is, unfortunately, but based in their performance reports, it might be worth the dollars. See, Litespeed claims to be much, much faster that Apache for both static and PHP sites. I've seen some large sites that use Litespeed, so I believe it. Litespeed also handles DDoS attacks better than Apache. Frankly, if I had the cash, I'd definitely use Litespeed instead of Apache.

I've been on a Litespeed server before (not mine), and I have to say that it definitely lives up to its hype. Well, okay, maybe not exactly, but close enough to it that I can see a definite improvement on performance in a Litespeed server. It's a shame that the license is a bit expensive, but I'll probably give the free version a try just to see again what it's like.

Litespeed sounds interesting. I've never used it before or even heard of it until now, but now that I've looked it up, I can say that I'm definitely interested in seeing what it can do. 9 times faster for static files and 50% faster for PHP? That's a considerable speed boost if true. Definitely something to look into.

Thanks for the thread!

Yep, Litespeed's fast. I think it'll be including Litespeed when planning my expenses so I'll be able adjust my budget in order to get it. It's worth the cost, I think. Perhaps I could try the monthly license and then move on to an owned one as soon as I can afford it.
