Default getting rid of processes that you dont need

Well, I just wrote a little thread about some basic linux server related commands and basic things to check for when you are first starting to run a linux server.
I mentioned 'hardening linux' but thought that I would go a bit more in depth as this area is massive.

I used to use a script called 'bastille' to harden up my old slackware servers

its pretty good, offers you a lot of options to tighten up your security and is pretty user friendly - and it teaches you a good deal about the security of your machine both before and after you apply the changes

Any way that you can free some extra resources on your server, is a good thing. Thanks for sharing the app with us all, that sounds very useful.
