Post Free Youtube Clone..!

Following is the installation procedure for youtube clone on your website. The script is called as vidiscript .

Download vidiscript version v0.33(BETA)from here

Following are VidiScript Installation Instructions :

Please see this page for server requirements before installing:

# vidiscript.com/requirements.html

If all the pre-requisites are installed and configured correctly on your server then ,

1 - Upload the 'VidiScript' files to your server.

You can install VidiScript in the root folder of your website. Simply upload the contents of the VidiScript folder to your root folder. You can also install to a subfolder (eg. 'http://yoursite.com/videos', you will enter this path in the install script during installation.

2 - Now you need to create a MySQL database in cpanel or on the server and which should include following details:

Database host: example - localhost
Database name: The name you gave to your database when you created it. example - cpaneluser_vidi
Username: The username of a user with permissions to make changes to the database, example - cpaneluser_vidi
Password: The password for the above username

3 - Folder permissions

You need to change the permissions of certain folders and files to allow VidiScript write access. CHMOD the following folders and files to 777:

Folder 'data'
Folder 'data/keys'
File 'data/scroller/scroller.xml'
Folder 'uploads'
Folder 'uploads/thumbs'
Folder 'uploads/avatars'
Folder 'uploads/ads'
Folder 'uploads/groupicons'
File 'includes/settings.inc'
File 'includes/badwords.inc'

4 - Install

In your browser go to the installation script which is at:

example - http://yoursite.com/install/ or http://yoursite.com/videos/install/

The installation script will first check your server settings and the folder permissions of the files above. If the folder permissions are incorrect you will not be able to proceed to the next step until they are corrected.

On the next page you will be asked to enter the database details you made a note of in Step 2 above.

When you have correctly entered your database details, the next page will ask you for this information:

Site Name: Choose a name for your site (example - 'My Video Site'), you can change this in the admin area later if you want to.
Site Folder: This folder is the location of your VidiScript installation, relative to the root folder. If you installed in the root folder, leave this blank. If you installed in a subfolder enter the path to the subfolder. Example - for http://yoursite.com/videos you would enter:

videos (no leading or trailing / )

Please be careful when entering the path, it is case-sensitive.
Admin Username: Choose the username you will use to log in to the admin area of your site
Admin Password: Password for the username above
Admin Email: Enter the email address for admin

Next you will see a page confirming that your VidiScript site is ready to use!

For security reasons, please delete the install folder as soon as possible and change the file permissions on includes/settings.inc to 555 i.e unwriteable.

Cheers

It looks pretty impressive, however for these sites to be successful you need a good server and at the moment the max I can afford without any problems is a VPS. And while it could be enough for a low traffic site, if it gets too popular I'm not sure if I'll be able to monetize it properly so that I can afford to keep it running.

I'll keep this script in mind though as I plan to eventually add video sharing to one of my sites once it grows.

Hello Patrick! This is what I needed, a youtube script! I hope it doesn't have a copyright content. I am just being cautious because I was thinking of consequences that youtube might sue the site if it actually sees the same site copying their script.

Does this script enable us to allow our readers to add a video? Or is it just a more effective way to manage the addition of our own videos to our websites?

That sounds like a pretty cool script. I think I have looked at it before, isn't it an ad supported script? I think you will actually have to pay to get the unbranded version, but still really cool.

Some people do not mind the brands so that is still pretty cool depending on the price for the de-branding (is that even a word?). I ended up doing that with cPanel (remove the brand) and it seemed to be easier than I thought, I wonder if its possible to do the same.

This is pretty cool, I am going to try it out sometime. I have always wondered how people start video sites with scripts that are similiar to what YouTube uses.
